What is The Sarah Challenge?
The Sarah Challenge began in January 2018 as a way for me, Sarah, to challenge myself and my lifestyle, but also to share my creativity and focus. I blog about the challenges I set for myself, like DIY & renovation and running, but also about my other interests, which includes reading, writing, and other creative pursuits.

What challenges are you pursuing?
The main challenge I’m focusing on is to become an Abbott World Marathon Major Six Star Finisher. For those not familiar with this, there are six World Marathon Majors. Though I’m not a professional athlete and won’t be breaking any world records in my lifetime, I do compete against my previous finish times and aim to improve upon my personal bests.
- ⭐️ Tokyo Marathon 🏅 – completed 3 March 2019
- 🗓 Boston Marathon – planning to run in 2021
- ⭐️ London Marathon 🏅 – completed 24 April 2016
- ⭐️ Berlin Marathon 🏅- completed 25 September 2016
- ⭐️ 🏃🏽♀️Chicago Marathon 🏅🏅🏅🏅- completed 5 times (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2019) – planning to run in 2020
- ⭐️ New York City Marathon 🏅- completed 4 November 2018
If you’re interested in becoming a Six Star Finisher, my published calendar of key dates for the World Marathon Majors may help and I’ve also started a series on how to enter each race, which I’ve started with the 2019 Tokyo Marathon and I recently posted about the 2019 Chicago Marathon. I also started a race report section starting with the 2018 New York City Marathon and the 2019 Tokyo Marathon, with more running posts to come – so stay tuned!

Writing this blog. Aim to post 1-2x a month – with the understanding that sometimes life doesn’t always go to plan!
I also am slowly writing a novel, but a novel writing challenge may be saved for NaNoWriMo and after I finish my Master degree.

Aim to post 1x a month about a DIY project or renovation completed.
My husband and I moved into a “fixer-upper” (USA) or “property in need of modernisation” (UK), so we have quite a few projects to tackle. I’ll share my endeavours with you, like how I turned this old IKEA wardrobe into a kitchen pantry or my soon-to-be-published kitchen renovation or DIY coffee bar.

My current lifestyle challenge is my reading challenge, where I’ve set a goal for myself to read 20 books this year.
